According to Indonesian media reports, Pongebian, Director General of Indonesia’s National Quarantine Agency, announced that an agreement for the export of Indonesian frozen durians to China has been reached and signed.
Pongebian stated that packaging facilities for frozen durians exported to China must comply with the plant quarantine facility standards of Indonesia’s National Quarantine Agency, which will also issue phytosanitary certificates to ensure full traceability from orchards to packaging plants.
In 2024, China’s durian imports reached nearly USD 7 billion, with Thailand remaining the dominant supplier.
